Trimble releases Novapoint 21 and Quadri 3

Trimble solidly strengthens its ground-breaking BIM-for-infrastructure solution. Novapoint 21 and Quadri 3 represent the company's most comprehensive system upgrade since the new technology platform was introduced in 2012. The upgraded design tools will significantly increase the efficiency of engineering and construction projects.

Trimble Solutions presented the new versions of its BIM tools, Novapoint 21 and Quadri 3, to its user community at Trimble's annual Novapoint User Conference in Stavanger, 24-26 April. Now, shortly after, the software is available for general download to customers.

The new software versions represent a solid development effort by Trimble´s developers in Oslo. Not since Novapoint 19 was launched in 2012, has so much time and resources been spent in developing a new version of the software. Never before have so many new and important features been added.

THE MARKET LEADER HAS BECOME EVEN BETTER

Novapoint Base: Table window, volume between surfaces (solids), larger models, stakeout with ´from-to´ support, network links, improved support for IFC and GML, Trimble ID replacing Vianova ID, plus «live» animated skies, sea and forest – these are just a few of the news in Novapoint Base, the core design tool.

Novapoint Road, Rail and WS|Cable: Furthermore, the discipline design applications Novapoint Road, Rail and WS|Cable have undergone a total overhaul of the modelling engine. Among many other things, this has resulted in better handling of larger corridor models and better calculation results. With brand new functionality for producing objects with volume geometry for all layers of a superstructure, quantities can be retrieved directly from the model via the new table window. Also, sections become more informative because of this.

Quadri and Quadri Easy Access: The model collaboration platform Quadri has also been significantly improved. Users have now for example the opportunity to "park" models and get new information about data volumes when sharing changes. This makes it easier and more efficient to work with many, as well as large Quadri models. Quadri Easy Access has also got a number of improvements: new login via Trimble ID, animation of viewpoints within a single topic, and general improvements of this. But most importantly: a much more powerful 3D window that makes it quick to navigate even in large 3D presentations.

I would like to thank all our customers and partners who have contributed with practical input and feedback to the new releases,” says Idar Kirkhorn, General Manager of Trimble´s Scandinavian business unit that supplies Novapoint and Quadri. “This feedback has been more important than ever, given the industry's demanding transition to a new design methodology, closer collaboration across project disciplines and players, and the OpenBIM objective. Our annual Novapoint User Conference has been an important forum for this dialogue with the industry.”
